The "Ultra" camera phone from Xiaomi incorporates screw-on lens filters and a grip device

 


A shutter button, zoom adjustments, and support for 67 mm lens filters are all found on the grip.


The 13 Ultra, Xiaomi's newest flagship device, aims to have the best smartphone camera. A dual-aperture lens, a large 1-inch sensor, and even a camera grip shutter button accessory are included. If you squint, this camera almost resembles a point-and-shoot camera due to the faux camera leather back and large, rounded camera bump.


The 50 MP camera, powered by a 1-inch Sony IMX989, is the main feature. The non-Ultra Xiaomi 13, the Vivo X90 Pro Plus, the Sharp Aquos R7, and the Leitz Phone 2, a Sharp phone that was rebranded by Leica, have all had this sensor in the past as the largest and most potent sensor on the market.


Xiaomi uses the large sensor from Sony and adds a dual-aperture lens, a novelty last seen on the Samsung Galaxy S9. In 2018, Samsung introduced a dual-aperture lens that could change from f1.5 to f2.4. Technically speaking, that's interesting, but there wasn't much you could do with that range. On a real camera, a smaller aperture serves two purposes: 1) to take in less light if the surrounding conditions are too bright; and 2) to have a larger depth of field so that more objects are in focus. Everything there is too big for a smartphone camera. First off, since they have such small lenses, they can never get enough light, therefore having a narrower aperture usually hurts your images. Second, the cameras on smartphones don't have a large enough focal length to effectively create depth-of-field effects.



For a reason, professional camera lenses are large canisters, and this doesn't exactly translate to a smartphone. Smartphones use a variety of software effects to get around this, but they are all merely simulating it. The hardly noticeable aperture shift was removed in later smartphones because it made photographs on the Galaxy S9 significantly darker and less attractive.


Xiaomi's dual aperture can adjust between f1.9 and f4.0, giving it a little wider range than Samsung's. Mechanically, the iris has two blades—one is shaped like a C, while the other is smaller and completes the circle—just like Samsung's design. A mechanical 12-blade iris for a DSLR allows you to change the aperture to any precise degree you choose, from f1.4 to f22 and any minuscule step in between. Only two states are possible for these two-blade irises: "open" f1.9 mode, in which the blades are drawn back and out of the way of the camera lens, and "closed" f4.0 mode, in which they are extended to form a narrower circle. We wouldn't anticipate any actual improvement from the hardware since the physics don't really work here, same to on the Samsung phone. However, there will undoubtedly be a lot of software depth-of-field effects.





There are a total of four back camera lenses. All three of the additional sensors are 50MP Sony IMX858 1/2.51-inch ones. There are three lenses: an ultrawide, a 3.2x, and a 5x telephoto lens. Why there are two telephoto lenses is a mystery to me. The design of the camera bump on a phone is noteworthy due to the amount of camera technology it contains. At the midway point of the phone, where the entire body begins to thicken and protrudes beyond the metal frame of the phone, Xiaomi's phone begins to make room for the cameras. The thicker body of the phone is piled on top of the round, black camera hump, giving the overall appearance of a significant thickness variation. Sadly, Xiaomi only specifies the phone's depth as 9.06 mm (we'll presume that's the thinnest section of the phone), but depending on where you measure, you may actually get three different depth readings.













For RMB 799, or approximately $116, Xiaomi offers a very swanky-looking "Professional Camera Bundle" if you're really serious about your size-restricted smartphone photography. This consists of two parts: the first is a phone case that adds an adapter ring measuring 67 mm around the camera bump. This enables you to screw on included lens caps or standard-size lens filters like circular polarizers or neutral density filters. The grip portion also has a rotating point-and-shoot-style zoom lever, a real two-stage shutter button, and a lanyard in addition to providing you with a large handle to hold onto.A battery is typically included in camera grips as well, and this tiny bit of lithium-ion provides an additional 330 mAh. A typical flagship 2023 smartphone can be found underneath the massive collection of camera functions. a 5000 mAh battery, a 6.73-inch, 120 Hz, 32001440 OLED, a Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 SoC, 12GB of RAM, and 256GB of storage. With a 90 W wired option and a 50 W wireless charger, Xiaomi's charging technology sounds fantastic.


As usual, none of the amusing phones are released in the US. Currently available only in China, this one goes on sale on April 21 for RMB 5,999, or about $872.
And Expected Price In Pakistan is about 2,47,518 Rupees.
